The parade was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and run until noon. The cancellation was made shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
The event has long drawn large crowds to Old Town Lenexa as part of Fourth of July celebrations. In addition, the KMBC9 Weather Team designated Saturday as an Impact Day because of the risk of rain and thunderstorms forecast for later Saturday afternoon and evening.
