Louisburg teen expands toy drive to deliver comfort packs for kids affected by Missouri flooding

A 19-year-old from Louisburg is collecting more than toys to support children and families affected by historic flooding in southeast Missouri. Sammie Magee, founder of Sammie’s Toy Drive, is gathering children’s essentials for families who lost homes and belongings around the Fourth of July holiday.

A volunteer arranges children’s care packages and essentials at a community donation table.

In addition to donations of everyday items such as coats, shoes, and clothing, the effort is also seeking healing activity packs aimed at helping children process the trauma of displacement. The drive is designed to offer reassurance to families navigating loss, with organizers emphasizing that the goal is to make sure children feel supported and remembered.

Sammie’s Toy Drive has previously helped more than 1,000 children and their families since launching four years ago. To contribute, donors can use the organization’s Amazon wish list at SammiesToyDrive.com or send monetary donations through Cash App at $SAMMIESTOYDRIVE and Venmo at @SAMMIE-MAGEE. KMBC 9 reports that all raised funds will go toward helping families recover.
