Guion was born January 30, 1939, in Ottawa, Kansas, and grew up in the Greenwood Community. She later lived in Mayetta and Osawatomie, attended Greenwood and Pomona Schools, and graduated from Pomona High School in 1956. She was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church and, most recently, the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie.
Beyond church involvement—including serving as a pianist and vacation bible school teacher—Guion volunteered in retirement at the First Baptist Church Clothes Closet and continued working there up to her passing. She also taught and cared for others through her work as an arthritis water aerobics instructor at the Ozone, retiring in 2024.
