State park changes include higher fees for vehicle permits, overnight camping, and utilities, along with the elimination of the annual camping permit. Those park fee updates take effect on Nov. 1.
For hunters, KDWP’s updates include a change to hunting hours for nonresidents hunting waterfowl, coot, rail, or snipe on KDWP-managed public lands and waters. Beginning with the fall 2026 seasons, nonresidents must stop hunting before noon and leave department lands by 1 p.m., with specific exceptions for the September teal season, light geese hunting under the light goose conservation order, certain Walk-In Hunting Access arrangements, and KDWP Special Hunts programs and events.
Kansas resident turkey hunting is also updated with a re-established fall season that allows one bearded (male) turkey per permit, running Oct. 31 through Jan. 31 with a 12-day closure period beginning the Wednesday following Thanksgiving. KDWP also outlined a repeatable deer season date structure for Deer Management Units on military properties, and will move the approved regulations through final administrative steps, including publication in the Kansas Register.
