Construction is underway on a year-long renovation of the historic carousel at Gage Park in Topeka. Shawnee County Parks and Recreation has started the next phase of the project by building a protective shelter over the carousel.
With the shelter in place, crews are demolishing the existing building from inside it. The renovation is described as major and planned to span about a year.
KSNT 27 News reported that the work is moving forward as the project transitions into this sheltered demolition and renovation stage.
