High winds earlier this month damaged traffic signs—crews are replacing them across north-central Kansas

Crews are continuing repairs and replacements of numerous traffic signs along I-70, I-135, and other highways in north-central Kansas, Kansas Department of Transportation officials say.

Highway maintenance workers inspect and replace damaged roadside traffic signs near a barrier on a Kansas highway shoulder.

The damaged and missing signs—including stop signs and other regulatory signs—were affected by high winds earlier this month. Traffic signs primarily in Saline, Ottawa, Lincoln and Ellsworth counties are being addressed.

Officials note the work is taking time because crews must determine which signs are missing and then order, produce, and deliver replacement signs. Motorists are asked to give workers room to work safely while passing through active work zones.
