A truck fire on Old 81 Highway was reported Tuesday night around 8:00, after the driver noticed flames in the bed of the vehicle, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office says (via NewsRadio 1150 KSAL). Rural Fire District 7 responded and extinguished the fire.
The 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 was headed south on Old 81 Highway when the fire was discovered. The driver was Jennifer Taylor, 40, of Salina, and a 12-year-old passenger was also in the truck. The Sheriff’s Office determined the fire began with a BBQ grill that still had warm coals from a cookout earlier in the day.
The estimated total loss is $12,000.
