A woman from Abilene was arrested after Salina Police said she allegedly purchased a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Salina using a check that was later determined to be written on a closed account. The incident traces back to a June 19 purchase reported to the dealership, Marshall Motors, on July 3 by its employees.
Salina Police reported that the vehicle was valued at more than $63,000. After the dealership was contacted by the bank about the check, Marshall Motors attempted to resolve the situation by reaching out to Kara Runyon, but she did not return to the business.
Police then contacted the Abilene Police Department, located Runyon and the vehicle, and transported her to the Saline County Jail for booking. The vehicle was returned to the business, and the charges could include fraud.
