Salina parents arrested after six children left in non-running hot car at Wingstop

Salina Police arrested two adults after six children were left in a hot vehicle for about 20 to 30 minutes while parked in a Wingstop lot. Officers were dispatched Wednesday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. after reports that multiple children were in a vehicle with no air conditioning and only one window down. When officers arrived, the vehicle was not running and had one window down. The children inside ranged from two 7-month-olds to a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 13-year-old. The temperature was reported as 97 degrees, with a heat index of 102 degrees. Salina Police said the parents were located inside the business after witnesses reported they had been there for roughly 20 to 30 minutes without checking on the children. Salina EMS responded and evaluated the children. Michael Krueger, 53, and Tiffany Krueger, 40, both of Salina, were taken into custody and booked into the Saline County Jail on six counts of Aggravated Endangerment of a Child. Police also placed all of the children into protective custody.
