Salina Public Library will reopen its Youth Services Department and host a free grand opening celebration on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., inviting community members to tour the newly renovated spaces.
The event will highlight the completion of the Re-Imagining Our Library initiative. Attendees can expect opportunities to view the transformation process and enjoy light refreshments during the public celebration.
Construction on the project began Dec. 16, 2025, when Hutton broke ground on the renovation. The initiative is described as a capital project intended to create a destination for youth and families to read, play, create, learn and grow while meeting evolving needs in Salina.
The remodel includes a Youth Programming Room, a Community Meeting Room, a Teen Room for ages 12 to 18, and a private Mother’s Room for nursing and feeding. It also adds new restrooms (including a family restroom), an expanded play area, an improved service desk, additional seating, and new technology and updated amenities, along with improvements to the Prescott Room.
