After recent storms, residents are being reminded not to burn branches, leaves, brush or other yard waste. The notice says open burning can create a fire risk during dry or windy conditions, and reports of smoke or visible flames often prompt 911 calls that require fire crews to respond and investigate.
Residents are also asked to keep storm debris away from fire hydrants. Hydrants should remain clear, visible and accessible, with 3 feet of clearance around them throughout the year so firefighters can use them quickly during emergencies.
