The driver, a 78-year-old man from Clyde, told police he stopped in the 1500 block of N. 9th to use the restroom. When he returned, the truck was gone. A city worker mowing in the area spotted the vehicle driving west on the levee, and when they tried to confront the driver for being on the levee, the vehicle continued west toward Euclid.

Police described the suspect as a white male with glasses, medium build, possibly 30–40 years old. The truck, which has a Kansas disabled tag, is valued at $7,500. Salina Police reminded residents not to leave vehicles running and unattended, even for short periods, and to keep vehicles secured.
