Salina City Commissioner and Vice Mayor Jerry Ivey is stepping down from his role, with his resignation effective this Friday, July 24, according to KSAL News. Ivey announced the change Monday afternoon and still had about a year and a half remaining on his term.
Ivey was first elected to a four-year term in November 2023 and began serving on the city commission in January 2024. In his remarks to KSAL News, he described the decision as difficult and said he made it in the best interest of his family.
During his time on the commission, Ivey pointed to work aimed at solving housing issues and strengthening public safety. He specifically highlighted the Magnolia Village apartment project and the new Fire Station #4 as efforts he is proud of.
