Tri-Rivers Fair brings back draft horse pull to Ag Hall at Saline County Expo Center

The popular Draft Horse Pull returns as a featured event at this year’s Tri-Rivers Fair, with the event listed on the fair’s 2026 program theme, “Stars, Stripes, and Summer Nights.” The Fair Board is inviting the public to fill the stands to celebrate the region’s agricultural roots and a long-running community tradition.

During the pull, teams of draft horses compete against a progressively weighted sled. Drivers guide the animals using vocal commands and precise rein handling, showcasing teamwork built on a historic human-animal bond.

The contest is scheduled for Friday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. in Ag Hall at the Saline County Expo Center. Tickets are available at the door for $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children ages 6–12. After the competition, a free community concert featuring rising country artist Jaron Bell is planned.
