A man suing the City of Topeka and a Topeka police officer alleges that a police K-9 caused him extensive injuries while he was seeking medical help at a local hospital for a gunshot wound. The case is filed in federal court.
According to KSNT 27 News, Thomas Esquibel brought the lawsuit after the incident, claiming the department allowed the K-9 to bite him during the time he was attempting to get treatment.
The complaint targets both the city and an individual officer, framing the dispute as a law-enforcement conduct and responsibility issue connected to emergency medical care in Topeka.
