Topeka veteran shares how a 26-year military career shaped his life
A Korean War veteran with 26 years of military service says his time in uniform helped shape the person he became later in life. KSNT 27 News spoke with Hugh Greenfield about a career that began in 1951 when he joined the National Guard in Illinois, followed by training at Fort Riley and in California.
Greenfield later was sent overseas during the Korean War. His reflections highlight how the experiences of that era and the length of his service contributed to his perspective in civilian life.
The interview is a reminder for Kansas residents to consider the personal journeys behind veterans’ service and the lasting influence it can have long after active duty ends.
