Wabaunsee County crash leaves SUV submerged in creek, Colorado driver killed

A 79-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado, died Wednesday evening after his SUV left Interstate 70 and ended up submerged in a creek in Wabaunsee County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A 79-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado, died Wednesday evening after his SUV left Interstate 70 and ended up submerged in a creek in Wabaunsee County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Blake Turner was driving a Toyota RAV 4 headed west on I-70 when the SUV left the roadway to the left, crossed the center median, traveled down an embankment, rolled, and came to rest in the creek under water. The crash occurred just before 5:00 p.m. near mile marker 337, about a half mile west of Vera Road.

The patrol said the reason the SUV left the roadway is unknown based on the information provided.
