Kansas Wheat and K-State Extension bring free Wheat Rx workshops to help growers prepare for winter season

Kansas wheat farmers can get research-based guidance for high-yield, high-quality production at free Wheat Rx educational programs hosted by Kansas Wheat and K-State Research and Extension. The sessions are designed to support producers as they make planning decisions leading into the upcoming winter wheat season, with both events including lunch and other refreshments. The Kansas Wheat partnership is aimed at sharing the latest recommendations for wheat management, from variety selection to disease and pest decisions, with practical takeaways for on-farm use, per NewsRadio 1150 KSAL. Two Wheat Rx dates are scheduled: August 12 in Hays and August 13 in Wichita. The Wichita program will also be available via livestream for those who register in advance. The agenda includes an overview of a new National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant project intended to enroll more Kansas wheat acres in conservation programs, along with instruction on profitable wheat production, precision agriculture strategies, and wheat disease management. Certified Crop Advisor continuing education credits are available, with eligible sessions offering credits in Soil & Water, Crop Production, Nutrient Management, Pest Management and 1A.
