North Lake Park (Lake Garnett)

Lake Garnett's dam, swimming pool, football stadium, and shelterhouse amenities were a project of a WPA/CCC Camp completed in 1934. The 2.6 mile "true-road" course around Lake Garnett garnered national notority for the 9 SCCA car races held between 1959 and 1972 drawing up to 75,000 spectators for a Sunday race. Recreational facilities within the park include a 55-acre lake for boating, fishing and water-skiing, picnic shelters, skeet range, rifle/pistol range, Garnett Country Club Golf Course, Garnett Long Cedar Disc Golf Course, a sprint go-kart track, a tractor pulling arena, horse arena, fairgrounds, football stadium, 4 baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, tennis/Pickleball courts, basketball court, 2 sand volleyball courts, batting cages, swimming pool, children's playgrounds, and the 52-mile Prairie Spirit Rail Trail State Park passes through the park. Restrooms, RV camping areas and a dump station are available. Wilderness camping allowed on northside dam area, while RV camping available at two locations. Camping permits purchased through campspot.com. The Garnett Recreation Center is located in this park and serves as the headquarters for Garnett's Recreation. Multiple events are held at North Lake each year, bringing fun and excitement to the area.
