Reno County Museum

This summer, step into the stories that shaped Reno County at the Reno County Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas. As part of the Kansas Sunflower Summer program, we invite families, history buffs, and curious explorers to discover a world of fascinating exhibits—all with free admission and something exciting for every age. Housed in two beautiful historic buildings at the corner of Walnut and Avenue A, the museum offers immersive galleries that span local transportation, cultural heritage, and our latest exhibit, “I Walked into a Different World” – The Vietnam Era Remembered. Upstairs, you can explore our rotating exhibits in second floor gallery space, dive into over a century of city directories in the Pat Mitchell Research Library, or let the kids burn off some summer energy in our interactive children’s area—complete with a BNSF train, a Gleaner Combine, and a stage to put on their own puppet show. Outdoors, visit the original 1870s claim house, early iron jail, and our evolving native Kansas plant courtyard. With over 200,000 artifacts in our collection, every visit uncovers something new.
